Plasma Pen Q&A

What is the Plasma Pen?

The Plasma Pen is a nonsurgical procedure that uses fibroblasting technology to tighten sagging skin, correct pigmentation disorders, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Fibroblasting uses plasma to stimulate fibroblast cells in the skin’s deeper layers. This treatment can help tighten and rejuvenate skin without surgery or significant downtime.

How does the Plasma Pen work?

The Plasma Pen emits electrical currents that create microinjuries in the skin to stimulate fibroblast cells. These cells produce new collagen, an essential protein that promotes firm, tight skin.

Collagen is plentiful when you’re young. In your mid-20s and early-30s, your body stops producing high quantities of this protein. Your skin becomes looser, thinner, and less responsive as a result.

By activating fibroblasts without touching the skin, the Plasma Pen is less invasive than other forms of collagen induction therapy, such as microneedling. The treatment creates small dots in the treatment area that quickly scab over and tighten the skin for complete rejuvenation.

Which skin concerns can the Plasma Pen address?

The Plasma Pen targets surface damage and deeper cosmetic concerns. Plasma Pen treatments can help eliminate and reduce the appearance of:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Brown spots
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Sun damage
  • Melasma
  • Scars
  • Uneven skin tone or texture
  • Under-eye bags
  • Thin lips
  • Sagging jowls

The team can perform Plasma Pen treatments nearly anywhere on the body, including the face, neck, and abdomen.

What can I expect from Plasma Pen treatments?

Plasma Pen treatments are safe, effective alternatives to surgery. Each treatment is noninvasive and involves only minimal downtime. Before your treatment, the team may apply a topical anesthetic to numb your skin. They direct the pen-like device over your treatment area, creating small wounds without touching the skin.

Your skin may appear red, swollen, or slightly bruised after the procedure. These side effects are expected and typically subside within days.

How many Plasma Pen treatments will I need?

Most patients only need three treatments spaced about four months apart to see visible results. Results are long-lasting and can continue enhancing the tone and texture of your skin for up to three years.
